NMHSS1 (recombinant hematopoietic signal peptide containing secreted 1)
Hematopoietic signal peptide containing secreted 1 HSS1, is a novel secreted protein that was discovered in hematopoietic stem cells at a locus on chromosome 19q13.33, a chromosomal region known to have aberrations or deletions in a variety of cancer types, including gliomas, hematopoietic malignancies and cancers of the thyroid, prostate, kidney, pancreas and, lung.
In in vitro and in vivo preclinical models, NMHSS1 has demonstrated a powerful anti-proliferative effect on glioma cells. Based on these findings, Neumedicines continues to investigate NMHHS1 as a novel treatment for malignant gliomas and other cancer types.
